BP runs the largest refinery in Whatcom county and as part of that operation BP owns larges areas of “buffer” land between their plant and the community. BP makes this land available to the public and there are places to hike, bike, and hunt.
One of our favorite trails is a paved access road that starts at Grandview and runs through large open fields before making a turn and heading east. This trail is well kept secret and so don’t expect to see more than a handful of other people. It’s a great place to run your dog and if you hike for about a mile you’ll reach a bluff with great views of Puget Sound.
