With the new year fast approaching it’s time to get ready for Birch Bay’s famous Ring of Fire event! This family friendly gathering takes place on December 31 each year between 7pm and 8pm. People from all over the county come to Birch Bay and place road flares along the shoreline which creates a beautiful light effect in the bay. Looking out across the water it looks as though the whole bay is glowing red. Many people also launch lanterns however the fire department prefers for people not to send those up into the air.
The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event and gives away 1 flare per family.
