July 5 Beach Cleanup
Celebrate responsibly and help keep Birch Bay beautiful.
Each Fourth of July brings thousands of visitors to our beaches. While our annual July 5 Beach Cleanup helps restore the shoreline, our long-term goal is simple: every year, there should be less trash to collect.

Meet at the Birch Bay Berm
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Trash bags, gloves, grabbers, and refreshments will be provided.
How You Can Help Before Cleanup Day
The easiest way to keep Birch Bay clean is to prevent litter in the first place.
- Pack out everything you pack in, including fireworks debris.
- Place trash at the curb for collectionβdon’t leave it on the beach.
- Never leave items behind expecting volunteers to pick them up later.
Fireworks packaging, food containers, plastic, and other debris can harm birds, marine life, pets, and people while polluting our shoreline.
Help Protect the Berm
Please stay out of the fenced areas along the berm.
The fencing protects native vegetation that:
- Prevents erosion
- Provides habitat for birds and other wildlife
- Helps protect Birch Bay’s shoreline for future generations
These fenced areas are not appropriate places to leave trash or fireworks debris.
Together, we can make every cleanup a little smaller and every beach day a little cleaner.
